But the Conservative party now is starting to follow opinion polls in an unthinking way ( eg climate change ).<BR/><BR/>Policy is set by public opinion, not party members.<BR/><BR/>The case for UKIP is that its the best way of changing public opinion.<BR/><BR/>I've been a life long Conservative. Have voted Conservative at every election, posted leaflets, knocked on doors and taken the abuse.<BR/><BR/>And for what ? Certainly not the introduction of stalinist green taxes (against evidence) or the loss of my country to Brussels.<BR/><BR/>I saw Peter Kilfoyle being interviewed on 18DT last week.
